Calm National Parks |
As well as surrounding
major sea lion and seabird breeding areas, the park contains
beautiful temperate reefs populated with a unique mix of
temperate and tropical plants and animals, courtesy of the
Leeuwin current. The area is also home to extensive seagrass
meadows, which are vital nursery habitats for juvenile
western rock lobsters. |

Jurien Bay District High
School is located on the Turquoise Coast 265 kilometres
north of Perth and 200 kilometres south of Geraldton. It is
located in the Mid West Education District. The school
caters for students from Jurien Bay, Leeman, Green Head and
Cervantes and the surrounding farming districts. |

The townsite of Jurien is
the largest along this stretch of the coast and is very
popular as a holiday, tourist and fishing destination. It is
situated 266kms north of Perth via the Brand Highway, which
is a leisurely three hour drive. Jurien is the home port for
a large rock lobster fishing fleet |

Dandaragan Council |
The name Dandaragan is
derived from the title of a watering hole, 9km north of the
present townsite of Dandaragan, called “Dandaraga” Spring,
which, according to local Aboriginal language, meant “good
kangaroo” country. |
