Halls Creek |
Halls Creek is one of the
most isolated towns in W.A. Despite being on Highway one it
is located on the edge of the Tanami Desert and is used
mainly as an overnight stop by travellers. The present town
was established in 1955, 15 kms from the old site. The town
is roughly 2,800 kilometres from Perth (to the south west)
and 1,200 kilometres from Darwin (to the north east). The
nearest towns are Fitzroy Crossing (288 km west) and Turkey
Creek otherwise known as Warmun (160km north). |
