PROFILE OF DAVID BELFIELD

David Belfield
David Belfield has been interested in photography for 30 years (since 1975), he has taken photographs starting with a box brownie which he made a small tripod for, because it was hard to take photographs with out a little movement, the cost kept him from going professional this early. When he was able to, he bought a SLR 35mm which took some nice photographs, up until the year 1999 when he bought his first digital camera, a Kodak 3600 2.1mp (more like an instamatic). Later upgrade after upgrade on to the Nikon D300 Digital SLR he has now, an extremely good camera, this has been a great encouragement in what has made David a professional photographer.
His goal is to move into high quality video and to incorporate it with photography to create memorabilia that can be shared with the world, ACHIEVED december of 2007.
Now a step further is on the cards.

He has taken over 45,000 digital photographs from 1999 to 2008, mostly on weekends.

THE ALBANY REGION DVDs
The Albany Region DVD idea started with a suggestion from John and Anne Clarke, formerly Tranquil Rest Bed and Breakfast, where they suggested something like this would make a good tourism tool for their clients to view before exploring our region, they would find the places on the DVD they might like to see in the time they have while staying here, at the end of the stay they would then have the option of buying the DVD to take home for family and friends to view and perhaps come to visit too.

His aim is to create more DVDs, covering more and more of our region and other regions of Australia.
Some time in the near future he would like to travel Australia to collect photographs and video from all parts.

Perhaps with your help we could help to boost the population here in the Albany Region and bring more tourists to Australia, using this product or future products not thought of yet.

These are self funded projects by Aysemart.
We rely on reviewers who continue to tell us what they really think of the work, your response has been very helpful.

Saying: Never let any one tell you it can't be done.

Here are some comments on David's photography... Webshot Comments for Ayse3 from 1 of 36 Albums "Albany Ships & Reflections (Featured 22-Oct-2005)".

WHY PHOTO AUSTRALIA ?
The Photo Australia idea came about due to local tourism organisations talking about attracting tourists to our area, seeming they were a little baffled on how to do this, David thinking of ways he could help, began by creating a webpage with a map of Australia that had dots to indicate destinations and wanted to travel Australia in the future to take photos to put there, but that would be a very slow process, so now to add an incentive for past travellers or residence to send photos they have taken, getting acknowledgement for them as well by having their name or business name and details on each photo then tourists come and look at destinations worldwide.
Also adding traveller’s stories and links/URLs to tourist information pages too.

To cover everyone this could not just stay inside Australia, so maps were created for the whole world, in the future those maps may be split up, for example England, Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands, America, Canada, Alaska, Mexico etc all separate, for now we build it and see if they come and what happens.
The goal is to attract tourists to Albany Western Australia and to sell a few DVDs on Albany, and get recognized as a key way to bring tourists to our beautiful Region.

The work has to be done by some one, David at this stage. If you are interested in being involved as a investor/partner or a PHP programmer and would like to help rebuild this in a way that providers of photos can upload direct to this website, send us an email.

BOX BROWNIE FILM

This camera was similar to the first camera he had when he was 12 years old.
he found that it was very difficult to take photographs as it would move every time the shutter was pressed so he made a steel tripod, a little radical but it worked, from then he took some really cool photographs from near ground level as the tripod was short.

KODAK INSTAMATIC FILM

This camera was used a lot, the photographs have since faded much and the quality was not the best but at the time it did it's job in teaching him more about the use of a camera.

MINOLTA 35MM SLR FILM

The first 35mm SLR Camera he got in 1986, he kept it up to 1999.
What he loved about this camera was when he slightly zoomed into something the final photo was greatly improved.

KODAK 2.2MP 3600 DIGITAL

His first digital camera, watching the digital market for a couple of years, finding this camera affordable he bought it.
Finding this camera very good because the main expense was the camera. He took over 2000 digital photographs with this camera.

KODAK LS443 4MP DIGITAL

This was a favourite of his, during its life it took 4808 digital photographs then the camera developed a fault, later making it impossible to fix because the repair would cost more than the value of the camera.
The colour and ease of use was fantastic for anyone. It took some great shots.

FUJI S5500 5MP DIGITAL

This camera was bought to replace the LS443 as a straight digital, however he was not happy with it like he was with the LS443. The quality of all the photographs are no comparison. This is just a quick digital.
This camera has taken over 3000 photographs to October 2005.

FUJI S7000 6MP DIGITAL

This camera when bought was very good as far as digital goes, very happy with it, very good for close up, but it still did not have the options the Nikon D70 has, a little hard focusing but a fine camera.
This camera had taken over 2600 photos.

NIKON D70 6MP SLR DIGITAL

Now this camera is the best so far, buying it in June 2004 with 2 lenses with the body, spare batteries, memory cards, this camera just goes and goes, quality every shot, the 300mm lens is fantastic, he was disappointed that he never got the standard 18x70mm lens with this model , he ended up buying a 28x80mm for standard use. He had used a friend's 18x70mm while away in Colombia and found the effect of the more wide angle was a nice feature, he still wants one. This camera has been the most used, taking over 18000 photographs to October 2005.

PANASONIC GS150 3CCD DIGITAL

This Video Camera is needed for the movement in the tourism DVDs he puts together, it seems people are not satisfied with just photographs they need video every now and then. So this will be a start, never to be the last video camera.

JVC - GZ-HD7

High definition video camera with 60GB hard drive for storage, allowing 4.5 or more hours of recording time, just need plenty of spare batteries. This has been the key to the creation of the Albany Region DVD4. Temporarily very good quality video footage.
I use a fluid tripod all the time, I never use the camera without.
Current Video Camera.
I have step up rings, a polarizer, shotgun micropone and other lens add-ons for this now.

Nikon D300

NIKON - D300 12MP

Simply the best, the master of all my cameras, the tool I need for the special part of what I do.
Excellent.
Current Video Camera.
I need to get a quality lens or two next, as I still use the ones from the D70.
I have a quality fully adjustable tripod for this too.
