Why Photo Australia, this name was chosen for the concept of
Click-A-Dot and all photo related works done through
Aysemart.
Photographer since the age of 12 (1975),
David J Belfield, now trading as Aysemart (pronounced Ace-Mart),
provides a range of Photographic and Computer services which
includes a Video Production Unit.
Since mid 2003 that unit has created a series of DVD’s
promoting the Southern Coastal Region. There have been
“sister” products, developed in the same period, which have
been aimed at more specific aspects of the Tourism market.
The suite of programmes, is distinguished by a technical
excellence which reflects Aysemart’s Professional
Photographic origins, dating back to the mid 1980s. There
are two other Aysemart qualities which are characteristic.
All projects have grown considerably since their launch and
they all include a surprising number of “extra features” or
“bonuses”.
The Products:
The subject of this award nomination August 2008, is a Promotional DVD
series. The latest edition of this, is known as “Albany
Region DVD 4: Australia’s Best Kept Secrets”. It differs
from all previous editions in that, it is almost entirely a
video production; shot in the very latest High Definition
Format. While the number of High Definition replay units in
Australia, is still small; recording in High Definition,
produces images which are
clearly superior, in any replay medium. High Definition will
come to dominate the domestic TV market.
“Albany Region DVD 4”
attempts to display all that is best of this region in order
to serve as a promotional memento. In that respect it is
extending the age old traditions of The Picture Post-Card or
The Brighton Stick of Rock. It has simply time-jumped those
ploys into the brave new world of 21st Century electronic
communications.
The History:
In 2003 Aysemart launched, in DVD form, an elaborate
regional slide-show-style presentation. It was based on an
enormous collection of very high quality Digital images,
which had been gathered over almost two decades (as a hobby)
by David Belfield. The concept was prompted by a Guest House
Proprietor who wanted to help his guests plan their days
touring, in the region. It was very well received and sold
well. The City of Albany, recognising its strengths bought
106 of that first production for inclusion in Presentation
Packs offered to VIP visitors. (They also bought a further
200 copies of the third edition in 2006.) That first DVD
series had a timeless quality and (as part of a revised
format) it remains a strong seller.
In 2005 that programme style was applied to a new collection
of images, taking the viewer to more remote attractions.
Volume 1 had been “the beaten path” collection. Volume 2 was
much more “off road”. Volume 3 (launched 2006) saw the
amalgamation of 1 and 2 in a combined package but with
considerable revision. It was in that edition that the first
of the, now expected, hall-mark, extras appeared. They were,
An Introduction to Albany and a Local History of Winemaking.
In making these revisions and in fine-tuning the project
over several years it became clear, by late 2006, that the
region needed a full feature video programme to include
“more active” images. By then it was also understood that
regular series updates were more or less inevitable.

And so, between September of 2007 and March of 2008,
David recorded, with a cutting edge, High Definition,
Digital Video Camera, all of the material in this huge
little DVD. (Formally released mid June 2008) On it you will
find his special blend of the conventional and the
extraordinary.
There are extreme sports and there are screen savers. There
are historic sequences and there are documentary moments;
all set in our lyrical landscape.
Current Camera's used
Nikon D300 12mp and
the
JVC GZ-HD7 HD Camcorder with all the attachments and decent
tripods.
